Once again I learned something new after reading an article about names in Iraq. [Google's cache of the article]

Take a common Iraqi Arabic name, such as Mohammed Jassim Ali. That means the man's name is Mohammed. His father's name was Jassim and his grandfather was Ali.... If you wanted to know the equivalent of our last names, you'd ask for the tribal name. That would be something like "al-Naseri" or "al-Ogedi."
