I'm excited about the FCC's ruling that people should be able to keep the wireless telephone number when switching to a competitor's wireless system. The FCC should really push a number portability system like the Internet's DNS. This will allows users to purchase a telephone number just like you can purchase a domain name (i.e. example.com) As long as you pay some nominal annual fee, you can keep the same telephone number for as long as you like.

With services like vonage and packet8, you can already choose out of state area codes for your local number.
