Used Hardware
I just finished reading Ed Foster's piece titled, "The Hidden Cost of Hardware." It pisses me off to hear stories where vendors force you to pay for the same software again just because the hardware changed hands. What a bunch of BS!
Just imagine if a car manufacturer pull a stunt like this after you purchased a used car. Now when you take your car in for maintenance, the mechanic refuses to work on the car until you pay Ford (or Toyota, etc) $3,000 in a license transfer fee for the software that runs your motor. Reporters would be jumping all over this.
